Partisanship

One of the primary reasons I decided to run for United States Congress is because the partisan bickering in Washington is simply not okay. For far too long, whatever political party happens to dominate the Capitol at any given time will more often then not attempt to push through its agenda without properly - and actually - reaching out across the isle to find true compromise. America faces tremendous challenges. Our colossal national debt, the Great Recession, the cost of two wars, and the rise of China as a new superpower all threaten our nation's future. We simply can no longer fight amongst ourselves as to how to overcome these challenges. We have to work together to find common ground on key issues that need to be dealt with. Strictly following an extreme ideology within either political party does not help solve problems. On the contrary, it only serves to exacerbate the problem. That is why it is essential for the Democrats and Republicans to work together, find common ground, and pass true bipartisan legislation. If partisan "politics as usual" does not end, I fear our children and grandchildren will live in an America that resembles nothing of what you and I have had the luxury of experiencing. If I receive the honor of being elected to Congress, I will be the leading voice advocating bipartisan discussion and legislation. I will be the line of communication between two bitterly divided parties. I will be a voice of reason that is so desperately needed in the halls of Congress. I will represent the "main road" to America's bright future.
